I had an awesome day/night capturing Melody and Alex; safe to say, we came away with some incredible West Seattle Wedding Photos! We started at Alex’s original family home in Seattle with a Tea Ceremony. This was super special because it gave me a chance to get to know the family a bit better before showing up to capture the wedding photos at Sodo Park later that afternoon.
The Tea Ceremony was a beautiful expression of each and every one of Alex and Melody’s elders and friends placing their “seal of approval” on the marriage. These two were showered with tons of gifts and encouragement. During that time I took photos of each and every one of the important people in their lives in their traditional outfits.
After the Tea Ceremony, I met them at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Seattle where they both got ready for their wedding. Alex had Tied Knot Grooming come and give he and his groomsmen haircuts at the hotel while Melody had Sweat Pea Beauty come and do hair/make-up for her and her bridesmaids.
Thanks to the incredible planning expertise and floral design of Jen Owens of Jen Leslie Events, everything went off without a hitch, and Melody & Alex got married that afternoon at Sodo Park venue in South Seattle.
Thanks to Butler Valet service, the bridal party was transported over to Lincoln Park in West Seattle where we took photos down by the beach. It was forecasted to rain originally, but in classic Seattle fashion, at the last second the skies opened and we had sunshine!
Upon arriving Sodo Park, everyone was welcomed with the warmth of gorgeous decorations, and both Melody and Alex’s family’s welcoming presence (you can scroll below and you’ll see Melody’s father insisted on toasting with each guest at the wedding before the night was over; what an extraordinary host!) After the beautiful ceremony concluded, cocktail hour was afoot and I couldn’t help myself taking way too many photos of all the wedding details, food, etc. It was quite a spread of lovely eye-candy, not to mention the meal prep by Herban Feast is rarely matched in the greater Seattle area.
It’s hard to stop thanking all the epic vendors involved; without each and every one of them, this wedding wouldn’t have been as epic as it was! Thanks to The Sweet Side for the Cake/Dessert setup, to DJ Branden Landon for the amazing dance party, Lee Myron Photo for being my second shooter, 321 Photo Booth, and another shout out to Jen Leslie Events for putting all the pieces together for Melody, Alex, their friends and families.
