Mocha Club Experience :: with Matt Wertz :: Nairobi, Kenya :: Lilongwe, Malawi :: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

To end 2015, thought I would flash-back to a trip to Africa I took with my good friend Matt Wertz. I’ve always wanted to blog favorites from this trip; the emotion in our friends in Ethiopia, Malawi, and Kenya was somewhat captured by my different cameras, but honestly, nothing can hold a candle to being there and seeing the amazing work our friends with Mocha Club are doing! I’ll write some commentary along the way to help explain some of the photos:

We drove around Addis Ababa after 10pm and it was so incredibly tragic what we saw… hundreds of women lining the side of the road working as prostitutes to try and put food on the table for their families.

We visited Mocha Club’s partner Women at Risk, which provides counseling and job training for women trying to leave the prostitution industry.

This is how you make Ethiopian coffee! Such a fun process!

We also visited Ellilta Products, which is one of the future job outlets for women leaving prostitution: scarf-making.

We then flew to Malawi and captured various projects, 1. Adziwa Secondary School + Orphan Care 2. Lizulu Orphan Care Project

Our last stop was in Nairobi, Kenya where we got to see our friends at New Dawn Academy, and then our friends in the Kibera Slum.

Overall, it was a very epic trip and Wertz and I ate our fair share of Chicken, Goat, and Beans. If you’re interested in supporting our friends in Africa, check out the link below!
