Nic and I devised a solid plan to make sure his Snoqualmie Falls Surprise Proposal happened without his fiance getting too suspicious. After finding me on Google, he and I struck up email correspondence and he explained he and fiance Jessi were coming to Seattle for a spring break trip (they live in midwest). He explained how Jessi was pretty sure the proposal was going to happen sometime during their trip, but that he wanted to make sure she didn’t have a big hunch it was happening at Snoqualmie Falls. After a couple phone calls and some more emails, we devised a foolproof plan to make sure she wouldn’t see the proposal coming.
In all honesty, there has never been a surprise proposal that hasn’t left me (the photographer) feeling nervous. I once heard someone say, “nerves mean you care.” I can tell you that is the truth. Each and every surprise proposal I get the chance to be a part of is a huge honor for me. What a unique moment to witness and capture–all the more reason to make sure everything is planned out to a T and that there are back-up plans upon back-up plans. Anything can happen: traffic, weather issues, you name it! We actually had to reschedule to a different day on their trip to Seattle since it was super rainy the day we had originally planned to take photos.
