Elizabeth heard about me from her friends at Kings High School since seeing other Discovery Park Senior Photos I had taken. She wanted to capture her senior photos at the same spot. Whenever starting senior photos, I always try and get to know the subject a bit, so as not to make them start posing right away. It can definitely feel daunting to have a big camera pointed at you, which is why I think most people are afraid of getting their photo taken.
Elizabeth had nothing to worry about, she was completely ready and after chatting a bit, we started snapping some photos. As you can see we covered some ground at Discovery Park, starting at the abandoned church, and moving our way down to one of the beautiful open fields.
I always encourage seniors to bring a few outfits along; outfits they really feel confident in. The honest truth is, if you don’t feel confident while taking photos, you also will have trouble looking confident. It was fun getting to know Elizabeth and how she’s dealt with this weird season of COVID going into her senior year. One of the reasons I love chatting and getting to know people on photo shoots is so that subjects never feel awkward silence in between snapping photos, and specially when you are posing, the last thing you want is… Silence.. you start to think, “what do I do?”
At the last location, out past the field, Elizabeth had her green dress, and it started to rain, at first, small drops, then a huge storm came on. Thankfully we had time to grab a few more photos under a tree and even out in the open before we both got drenched and ran back to the entrance of Discovery Park! What a blast, overall, she did a great job posing and working it for the camera!
